The photographs belong to the family archives of members of the community from Constanța: Emin Emel, Kyanie Rüstem and Senie Rașid, and Güner Akmolla. They are a history in images of the two communities, as found in the family archives – basically, a history of the private lives of certain individuals and families. Each image captures events and moments of their family life, as they were experienced by members of the two communities – wedding, circumcision, funeral – but also aspects related to culture, religion and leisure.
Chronologically, the photographs cover the segment from the early 19th century to the early 20th century and were collected during a field research conducted in 2014 by researchers Adriana Cupcea and Iulia Hossu, from the Romanian Institute for Research on National Minorities (ISPMN), and later included in the Exhibition of Turks and Tatars from Dobruja. Memories… (2014).
